William Allen White Library invites students, employees and the public to become alchemists-in-training and solve STEM-based puzzles in the new alchemy-themed escape room called The Philosopher’s Quest — an adventure inspired by the world of Harry Potter.
Students and educators from across Kansas will celebrate children’s literature during the 72nd annual William Allen White Children’s Book Awards on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Emporia State University. The events are free and open to the public.
The two books selected by Kansas schoolchildren for the 2023 William Allen White Children’s Book Awards center around the journeys of children with eccentric fathers. While one journey is supernatural, and the other is of survival, in both “Scritch Scratch” by Lindsay Currie, and “96 Miles” by J.L. Esplin, it is discovered that the fathers’ eccentricities weren’t unwarranted.
Emporia State University Theatre has rescheduled this week’s planned opening of Steve Martin’s face “The Underpants” because of four positive COVID results among the cast and crew. The show is now set for Aug. 24 through 27.
