Emporia State University will mark 157 years of educational excellence with its annual Founders’ Day celebration.
An important and influential family with an Emporia State family legacy is being recognized this weekend at the ESU basketball game. Paul and Odessa Terry didn’t merely dream that all eight of their children would graduate from college; they expected it. The children didn’t disappoint and, as a result, the Terrys will be honored as a 2020 Hornet Heritage Family by Emporia State University’s Alumni Association on Saturday, Feb. 8, during the Hornets’ home basketball game.
A flag ceremony featuring an ESU alum and retired soldier, a U.S. Army band and free admissions for active and retired military to the Hornet football game are just some of the events honoring veterans on Nov. 2, as Emporia State University helps kick off the All Veterans Tribute in Emporia, the Official Founding City of Veterans Day.
Congratulations to alum Dathan Fischer (BSE Elementary Education 2003; MS Educational Administration 2010), who was named Assistant Principal of the Year by the Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals. Dathan is in his first year as head principal at Emporia High School where he served as assistant principal then associate principal.
Five Distinguished Alumni and three Outstanding Recent Graduates will be honored at Emporia State during the Black & Gold Gala on Oct. 18, which kicks off the 2019 Homecoming weekend.
While ESU alumni return to the Hornets’ Nest for Homecoming, the campus welcomes the Emporia community to enjoy the special events. Homecoming 2019 begins Wednesday, Oct. 16, with the first event organized by students and concludes with a matinee of the musical on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Emporia State University will mark 156 years of educational excellence with its annual Founders’ Day celebration.
“From 18, Many” is the theme for the 2018 Founders’ Day celebration at Emporia State University, which marks 155 years of educational excellence.
