Memorial Set for Dr. Mary Bonner

Emporia State University is having a memorial service for Dr. Mary Winstead Bonner at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Sauder Alumni Center, 1500 Highland Street. Dr. Bonner died July 15 at age 94.


Construction Begins on ESU’s Breidenthal University House

With fundraising complete, crews broke ground recently for Emporia State’s new Breidenthal University House. When completed in October 2019, the 5,708-square-feet facility will be about evenly divided between private living space for the ESU president and family and a fully separate public entertaining space.




ESU Theatre presents 2018-2019 Season

The Emporia State University Theatre Department presents its 2018-19 season of plays. The productions explore a journey for self-discovery, the struggle between good and evil, the bonds of friendship and the tragedy of forbidden love. The lineup includes “Pippin” with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson; “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” by Jethro Compton; “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling and “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare.




Public Comments Sought for Accreditation Visit

The Teachers College at Emporia State University is hosting an accreditation visit by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation on Nov. 4-6, 2018. Interested parties are invited to submit third-party comments to the site team. Please note that comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of professional education programs offered and should specify the party’s relationship to the provider (i.e., graduate, present or former faculty member, employer of graduates, current student, staff, cooperating/mentor teacher).


New Patterson Scholars Announced

Childhoods spent teaching younger siblings and teddy bears. Becoming engrossed in math, history, music, sharing it and helping others understand it. While still in high school themselves, working in classroom settings and feeling the certainty of knowing this was the place they wanted to be, what they wanted to do. This is what the newest ESU Patterson Scholars have in common.


ESU Theatre presents ‘Moo Juice: The Musical’

ESU’s 64th season of Summer Theatre concludes with Krista (Funky Mama) Eyler’s “Moo Juice: The Musical.” The first of four performances will be presented Wednesday, July 25 at 7:30 pm. Jim and Lindy Bartruff will direct the show. Melinda Groves is the rehearsal pianist.
