Emporia State Program Named to USDE What Works Clearinghouse

The US Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse added a program affiliated with Emporia State to its database of effective programs in education. The program named recently to the WWC is the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The Great Plains Center for National Teacher Certification mentors teachers through the process of working towards their national board certification.

Theater Students Compete at Regional Festival

Emporia State Theatre had excellent representation at last month’s regional festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Four faculty members and 21 students traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for the annual festival for Region 5 of KCACTF which includes colleges and universities from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.

Expert to Present on Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome

Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome is the topic of an upcoming lecture at Emporia State University. Dr. Joy DeGruy, the leading expert on this topic, presents the 2018 Social Justice & Equity Lecture at 6 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 8) in Albert Taylor Hall on the Emporia campus.


Two to Receive Presidential Award for Diversity

A longtime marketing professor and a senior in English, Modern Languages and Journalism will each receive the Presidential Award for Diversity on Thursday. The awards will be given at the beginning of the 2018 Social Justice & Equity Lecture at 6 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall.
