Students Can Complete for $1863 in Scholarship Money

Emporia State University has been changing lives since 1863. Thanks to the President’s Community Advisory Council, ESU President Allison Garrett has $1,863 in scholarship money to give away.

If you are an ESU student who best tells about something at Emporia State University that changed your life, you could have an opportunity to win.

The rules are simple, but the deadline is quickly approaching. So give it some thought and write your essay.

Rules for the $1863 scholarship essay competition:

  • Open to all ESU students (both undergraduate and graduate), EXCEPT those graduating in May 2019.
  • Write an essay of 750 to 1,000 words about something at Emporia State University that changed your life. (Word limit will be strictly enforced; title does not count in word limit.)
  • By submitting your essay, you agree that it may be quoted or published in full by the university and released to media.
  • Do not include your name on the essay itself; they will be blind-judged.
  • Complete the entry form* and attach it as a cover sheet.
  • Submit entries in person at Marketing and Media Relations, 005 Plumb Hall; or via email to Gwen Larson at glarson1@emporia.edu.

Deadline for all entries is 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019.

Judges reserve the right to divide the scholarship for more than one recipient.
