No furloughs for employees

It’s business as usual at Emporia State University after the State of Kansas approved a bill that deems all state employees essential. All employees were notified Saturday night that they should report for their regular work shifts beginning Sunday.

“I know these past few days have not been easy, and it is important for you to know how very much your understanding and patience have been appreciated,” Dr. Jackie Vietti, Emporia State interim president, told all staff in an email.

“The best news of all,” she concluded “is that I and others within the Hornet Nation get to reconnect with you on Monday, so we can continue together the great work that makes such a difference for our students and the common good.”
