Emporia State’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will host an open forum inspired by the events surrounding the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The virtual event is open to the larger community.

Humanity First: a conversation inspired by Mr. George Floyd will be presented via Zoom from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, June 5.

“This virtual event will not be a presentation,” said Dr. Aswad Allen, ESU chief diversity officer, organizer of the event. “Rather, it will be a safe space for participants to dialogue.”

Those who want to participate need to register at www.emporia.edu/live. A Zoom link will be sent back via email. Also on the registration site is a link to submit questions or share comments in advance.

“It is times like these — when we struggle to understand why or when the weight of so many injustices has just become too much — that we have the opportunity to come together, share our thoughts, sift through our confusion, contribute our ideas or to simply listen,” said Allen.
