ESU’s Science Saturday goes after dark with Creatures of the Night

When darkness falls and the world sleeps, nocturnal animals are on the move! Join Emporia State University’s Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center for Creatures of the Night on Saturday, July 18, from 8 to 10 p.m.

This special edition of Science Saturday invites science enthusiasts of all ages to peer into the world of animals that use special adaptations to survive and thrive when it’s dark outside.

Activities include telescope viewing, a nighttime hike, an insect observation tent, a reading bat cave and lots of fun arts and crafts. Nocturnal animal specimens, including bats and owls, will be available for viewing. And no warm summer night is complete without s’mores!

The David Traylor Zoo of Emporia, Emporia Public Library, ESU’s Peterson Planetarium and ESU Art Outreach will be on hand to provide activities throughout the evening.

Creatures of the Night is a free event and open to the public. No registration is required to attend.
