Fraud Alert Workshop to be Offered for Not-for-Profit Organizations

The Emporia State chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honorary organization for accounting, finance and information systems majors, and Wright CPA Group have teamed up to conduct a fraud alert workshop for not-for-profit organizations and churches in the Emporia area.

The focus of the workshop is to help organizations identify certain factors that could lead to fraudulent activities and what steps they can take to prevent these potential situations from occurring in their operations. The workshop will be held in the School of Business on Dec. 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Roe R. Conference Room.

Certified Public Accountant, Tim Wright, will be the primary presenter at the workshop. Wright brings many years of experience working with not-for-profit organizations, churches, and local businesses on maintaining good accounting and control systems. Beta Alpha Psi membership is comprised of junior, senior and graduate students who uphold a high academic performance. The organization emphasizes the importance of service to the community.

The event is free to not-for-profits and churches. To participate, organizations need to make a reservation with Wright CPA Group at 620-342-7435.
