Educator to Deliver Bonner Lecture on Thursday

A Kansas City, Kansas, educator who believes every child has the right to receive a quality education will present the 2018 Bonner & Bonner Diversity Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday in Albert Taylor Hall on the Emporia State campus.

Dr. Evelyn Hill, community engagement director at Avenue of Life in Kansas City, Kansas, will speak on “Enabling Homeless Children to be Successful in School.” A reception in the Plumb Hall Rotunda will follow the lecture. The event is free, but tickets are required. They are available in Union Services in the Memorial Union or by calling 620-341-6378.

Hill believes this generation of students needs to be prepared for the global workforce, which is very different from the workforce of yesterday. They must be prepared to excel in the technical fields of the new laptop, smart phone and iPad learning tools and beyond. Technology is changing rapidly therefore education should be changing rapidly.
