For the past two and a half years, Emporia State University has made unique transformative changes to build a new future for Emporia State. Emporia State University President Ken Hush announced the university’s decision to amend the university’s initial recommendation of a tuition + fees increase. ESU is now putting forth a 0% tuition and 0% fee increase which will result in hundreds of dollars of net DECREASE to tuition and fees for each of our students via a reduction of university debt. ESU is able to achieve this decrease as a result of unique transformational efforts and numerous stakeholders all coming together in support of Emporia State’s new vision and action.
A new academic partnership between Emporia State University and Washburn University School of Law will benefit ESU students who want to become attorneys and help address the problem of legal representation across much of the state. The partnership allows students to complete a bachelor’s degree as well as a law degree in six years.
Nearly 600 Emporia State University students are candidates for degrees during spring commencement ceremonies at White Auditorium on May 10 and 11.
A professor who delights in sharing his knowledge and mentoring the next generation of biologists is the 2024 Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professor at Emporia State University. Dr. William Jensen, professor of wildlife ecology, director of ESU Natural Areas and director of the Schmidt Museum of Natural History, learned of the award during his field ecology class on Tuesday, April 30.
The first dean of Emporia State University’s School for Visual + Performing Arts brings decades of experience teaching from sixth grade to graduate level, plus 14 years as a college administrator.
Because of forecasted bad weather, the on-campus showing of “Hot Times in the Heartland” originally scheduled for Thursday, April 25, is postponed. The rescheduled date is Monday, April 29, at 6 p.m. in Science Hall 72. A question-and-answer session with the filmmakers will follow the free screening.
