Presidential Scholarship
Recognizing the academic achievements of our students
ESU's Presidential Scholarship
Thanks to the generosity of alumni, faculty, staff and friends, ESU is able to offer a Presidential Scholarship when you maintain a 3.0 ESU GPA and complete 30 ESU credit hours.
It is not necessary to complete a separate application if you qualify for these scholarships as your admission application is used to determine your eligibility.
The priority deadline for Presidential Scholarships is February 1.
Incoming Freshmen
Incoming Freshmen who qualify for this scholarship can renew their scholarship for 3 years after the first academic year when you maintain a 3.0 or higher ESU GPA and complete 30 ESU credit hours. Each year the student must complete a minimum of 30 ESU credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semester and achieve a 3.0 cumulative ESU GPA. Amounts shown are the amount awarded per year.
Transfer Scholarship
To obtain the ESU Transfer Scholarship, a student must be a first-time ESU student with 24 or more transferable credit hours and a 3.0 or higher GPA on the transferable hours. Additionally, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester and earn a 3.0 cumulative ESU GPA in the first year. Transfer students are eligible for renewal of the scholarship for an additional two semesters after the first academic year. Each year the student must complete a minimum of 30 ESU credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semester and achieve a 3.0 cumulative ESU GPA.
New incoming freshmen starting ESU in the spring semester are eligible for half of the award amount in the spring semester and must complete 15 total hours for the combined spring and summer semesters with a 3.0 ESU GPA to be eligible for renewal. Students starting in spring semester are eligible to renew the Presidential Scholarship for seven additional semesters after their first semester at ESU, and must complete the required 30 ESU credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semesters with a 3.0 cumulative ESU GPA.

GPA-Only Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to first-time freshmen students for their academic achievements and is based on GPA. Incoming freshmen students eligible for the no test score scholarship are those who have not taken an ACT/SAT or those who scored below a 21 on the ACT. The GPA-Only scholarship is awarded one year/two consecutive semesters and is not currently renewable.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible for all the above scholarships, you must:
- be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours each fall and spring semesters
- maintain a 3.0 minimum cumulative ESU GPA
- complete a thank-you note. You will be contacted with information in the fall semester regarding how to complete this process

Requirements
- New transfer students starting ESU in the fall semester are eligible for half the award amount shown above in the fall semester and half in the spring semester.
- New transfer students starting ESU in the spring semester are eligible for half of the award amount in the spring semester and must complete 15 total hours for the combined spring and summer semesters with a 3.0 ESU GPA to be eligible for renewal.
- Students starting in spring semester are eligible to renew the Transfer Scholarship for three additional semesters after their first semester at ESU, and must complete the required 30 credit hours in the combined fall, spring, and trailing summer semesters with a 3.0 cumulative ESU GPA.
- Students transferring fewer than 24 hours are eligible for the freshman Presidential Scholarship.
