The Memorial Union has many student and community support offices that play a significant role on the ESU campus and for the state of Kansas.
Admissions provides guidance, resources and encouragement while being able to coordinate campus visits to answer your questions and clarify a myriad of information, which may include student-led tours and faculty appointments according to your specific wants. There is also information regarding offerings of academic, transfer, out-of-state, international and departmental scholarships to eligible students.
Career Services at ESU is committed to helping students decide on a major, develop a career plan, gain experience, find employment and apply to a graduate/professional school. Career Services also serves as a key partner to employers as they connect with and recruit Emporia State University students and alumni. They specialize in Career Counseling & Testing, Internships, Job Search Strategies, Employment, and Graduate or Professional School.
Kansas Talking Books provides personalized library support and materials in a specialized format to eligible Kansas residents to ensure that all may read. This no-cost library service features: Audio and braille books and magazines mailed directly to an eligible participant’s house and returned postage free. Special equipment lent to you at no charge. Office of International Education offers many services and programs for international students. The Intensive English Program arranges for you to learn the English language while studying at ESU. The Summer Program additionally offers an introduction to American culture. The Study Abroad program offers versatility with a selection of Faculty-led programs, Semester, Year-long programs and Summer programs.
Student Affairs promotes the Common Good by engaging students in transformational learning, fostering adaptive leadership, and preparing students to be successful in a diverse and global society. By making the conscious decision to become involved in learning opportunities outside of the formal classroom you will have experiences that; Foster the continued development of your individual identity and purpose; Support your academic endeavors by creating learning laboratories and experiential learning opportunities; and, Enhance your career readiness through the development of transferable skills. The Office of Student Affairs houses the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students and additional resources and information available to the ESU community.
Legal Services, provided by Associated Student Government for students, encourages students to seek the advice of an attorney in order to prevent legal difficulties ad to provide assistance when students anticipate or encounter legal problems. A respected firm of the Emporia community is contracted to provide advice regarding legal matters. Students may currently visit with the attorney every Tuesday, 1-3pm, in the CSI office area.
