The Teachers College Honors Students Through End-of-Year Ceremony

Nearly 130 people were recognized at The Teachers College Annual Honors Event held the evening of May 1 on the campus of Emporia State University.

Of those honored, 122 are graduating students, and seven are retiring members of the college. Twenty-five students received outstanding student awards and 97 students were honored for achievement of a 3.8 grade point average or higher.

Undergraduate and graduate students were honored for excellence in their respective departments. Eleven students received outstanding undergraduate student awards, 13 students received outstanding graduate student awards, and one student received the graduate student research award.

Research Award

The 2023 Graduate Research Award went to Elizabeth Schmidt. Schmidt received this award for her study titled “Creation of Self Portraits on Self-Esteem of College Students.” The research explored the impact of creating self-portraits on the self-esteem of college students, as measured by pre- and post-test scores on the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale. Schmidt graduated with dual degrees – the Master of Science in Art Therapy Counseling and the Master of Science in Clinical Counseling. The faculty sponsor for her research project was Dr. Gaelynn Wolf Bordonaro.
