Four Undergrads to Present Research at Statehouse

Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol is Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Six undergraduate researchers from Emporia State University will get the chance to present their work on the first-floor rotunda of the State Capitol in Topeka.

The event showcases the research being conducted by students at the state's four-year institutions. Around 40 undergraduate student projects will be presented. This event is free and open to the public.

This event is intended to showcase the quality and diversity of undergraduate research being conducted at our state universities and highlights the role that higher education can play in strengthening our own Kansas economy and workforce. 

The following Emporia State University students will present their work at Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol:

  • Callie Dallimore, Senior, Chemistry, Overland Park. Colin Dallimore, Senior, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Overland Park. Heavy Metal Concentrations in Flood-Prone Sediments of Tar Creek in the Tri-State Mining District.
  • Katlynn Decker, Senior, Earth Science, Emporia. Methodology for the Registration and Rectification of Historic Aerial Images of Kansas.
  • Madeline Griem, Junior, History, Lawrence. Virtual Repatriation: Helping the Delaware Tribe of Indians Reclaim Their Ancestors.
  • Dylan Osterhaus, Senior, Biology, Topeka. Trends in Distribution of Plains Minnow (Hybognathus placitus) in Kansas from 1964 to 2017.
