As a high school student in the Jump Start program, you can earn up to nine college credit hours during the fall and spring semesters, and six college credit hours during the summer on the Emporia State campus.

Already admitted? Get ready to enroll!

Fill out your Jump Start Enrollment Form, sent by your admissions counselor, and complete the following steps:

  • Choose your classes from the Jump Start Course List.
  • Take your form to your high school counselor to sign off on your course schedule.
  • Get a signature from your parent or legal guardian if you are under the age of 18.
  • Submit your enrollment form via email to reguser@emporia.edu, hand deliver a copy to Registration in Plumb Hall 108 or mail your form to the following address:

Jump Start Orientation Day

Join us on Friday, August 16 from 8:30-11:30 AM on the fourth floor of W. A. White Library on ESU’s campus for your Jump Start orientation. You’ll get all the need-to-know info about being a successful Jump Start student, including a Canvas tutorial, information about study spaces and resources, the chance to meet other Jump Start students and more!

How do I apply?

Fill out the Jump Start Application online using the link above. This step will take about ten minutes.

When is the application deadline?

The last day to apply for classes is the Friday before ESU classes begin.

How do I enroll?

Once you have been admitted, you will need to fill out the Jump Start Enrollment form, with permission from your school and a parent or legal guardian if you are under the age of 18. Your counselor can help you select the classes that will work with your high school schedule.

How do I pay my bill?

Once you are enrolled, you will receive your bill through the Student Account Center on Hornet365. You will see the total cost of each course enrolled, and the scholarship amount awarded that brings your total bill to $21 per credit hour. You can pay online through the account center, or bring cash or check to the ESU Cashier’s Office in Plumb Hall 104.

When is my bill due?

You must pay your bill in full or set up a payment plan before the fifth day of ESU classes.

How do I find my username and password?

Once you have been admitted, you will receive information from your counselor about locating your username and setting up a password. You can also find instructions at hornet365.com/newhornet.

What is the Jump Start New Student Orientation?

Jump Start New Student Orientation Day is on Friday, August 16 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. on the fourth floor of W. A. White Library on ESU's campus.

You will learn how to access things like assignments and your class syllabus, learn more about resources like tutoring and study centers and meet faculty and staff who will help support you during your time at ESU.

Do I need an ESU Student ID card as a Jump Start student?

No, you do not need to purchase an ID card.

I saw "Algebra Evaluation" in my Canvas courses. Do I need to take this test?

No, unless you earned below a 22 Math ACT score and are enrolled in MA 110 - College Algebra.
