For Parents, Next steps after accepted to ESU

Your student is a Hornet! Here are your student's next steps!

Your student's next steps

Hornet Connection

Hornet Connection is the process where students complete the steps they need to enroll in classes.

E-Experience

E-Experience is a FREE one-day event that brings your student to campus and connects them with current ESU student leaders, ESU resources, the Emporia community and other students beginning their studies at ESU in the fall!

Choose Housing

At Emporia State, you have a variety of on-campus living options so your student will feel right at home. Check out this page to learn more and submit the housing application.

Textbooks

Students will order books prior to their fall semester and pick them up before classes begin. Our campus bookstore, Barnes & Noble will price-match if you find a lower cost for your textbooks elsewhere. View our campus Bookstore here.

Apply for FAFSA

Loans

Learn about loan options from the U.S. Department of Education, as well as private educational loan lenders. If you have any questions or want some guidance when it comes to paying for college, connect with ESU’s Financial Aid Office at 620-341-5453 or finaid@emporia.edu.

Cashier & Student Accounts

The Student Account Center on Hornet365.com is where your student will pay their bill, enroll in a payment plan, save a payment method and set up a direct deposit account for refunds.

Paying Your Bill

Watch for an email from cashier@emporia.edu letting your student know the semester bill is ready. Payment can be made online via Hornet365.com or in-person with cash, personal check, money order or cashier check at our cashier window on the first floor of Plumb Hall.

Payment Schedule

Tuition and fees are due on the fifth day of class. If your student is enrolled in a payment plan, the first payment is due on the fifth day of class and on the 20th of each month for three more months.

Authorized User Form

Similar to the financial aid office, once your student becomes a Hornet, federal regulations protecting their privacy prevents ESU from speaking to you about your student’s account. Students must complete the Authorized User Form in their student account giving us permission to share information with you. This is a separate form from the financial aid office.
