Athletic Training
Bachelor of Science
Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation. ATs are always in the action providing emergency care, therapy and rehab treatments for athletic teams, fitness centers/gyms, community programs. This is also a pre-professional preparation field for physical therapy, chiropractic care, and other health-related programs.
Elementary Education
Bachelor of Science in Education
Early in the elementary teacher education program students explore the teaching profession, issues in education, and the nature of children in the classroom through the Introduction to Teaching course. Upon completion of coursework at Emporia State, students receive a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) degree.

Want to stay in your own backyard? Emporia State has partnership programs with Butler Community College, Johnson County Community College, and Kansas City Kansas Community College, allowing students to complete the Elementary Education program without relocating.
Health & Human Performance
Bachelor of Science
This degree prepares you for positions in corporate health, strength & conditioning, personal training, public administration and related areas. Graduates can assume leadership roles in designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion campaigns. Career options also exist in corporate, clinical/medical, not-for-profit organizations, commercial/private settings and academic institutions. This is also a pre-professional preparation field for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and chiropractic care.
Health Education
Bachelor of Science in Education
Health education teachers are instrumental in the well-being and healthy development of today’s youth. This program will prepare you to teach Health in schools from kindergarten all the way through high school. This is offered as a second teaching field only and must be taken with another teaching field.

Physical education teachers play a vital role in the growth and development of children, helping them to establish healthy lifestyles and integrate fitness into their daily lives. You can shape the future by equipping students with the skills and habits they need to remain healthy, physically fit, and active throughout their lives.
Psychology (BA)
Bachelor of Arts
The B.A. in Psychology is a good option for candidates who want to explore other disciplines, such as literature, political science, or writing in greater depth. This might be used to ready them for a specialized field such an entry into non-profit work, journalism, social work, or counseling. It also well positions candidates who are striving to be bilingual, which is an area of need in human services work.
Psychology (BS)

The B.S. in Psychology is a good option for candidates who want to emphasize their research and writing skills, or emphasize biology and other science areas. Such candidates often have an eye toward further graduate study in psychology or related disciplines, especially in STEM fields. This degree is often pursued by those who enjoy math and science, and see themselves in an analytical or technical field.
Psychology Education-Teaching
Bachelor of Science in Education
This teaching field prepares the student to teach psychology at the secondary level (middle and high school). This plan consists of 24 hours of required psychology courses. A second teaching field is required.

Our secondary education program prepares you to teach at the middle and high school levels. As a secondary education student, you first select the teaching field(s) in which you would like to teach. You are then advised by a faculty member in that teaching field/content area(s).

The Bachelor of Science in Sport Leadership & Recreation is designed to prepare you for a leadership role in sport and recreation industries. The SLR program has courses focused on sport management, event and program design, revenue management, business law, marketing, and sport psychology. With unique practicum and internship experiences, SLR graduates are uniquely qualified for a wide range of careers in the profession.

Coaching
Minor
Coaching a sport is one of the best ways to positively influence the lives of others. HPER’s Coaching minor is one of only 10 higher-education programs in the country to be nationally accredited. It is the most active and largest coaching program in Kansas.
Health
Minor
This is a non-teaching minor that can help prepare you for a career in public health, commercial and private agencies, and with county, state, and federal agencies.

Through a select series of sports science classes, the Physical Education minor provides students with a solid foundation in the principles of exercise training and sport skills. This is a non-teaching minor.

The minor provides you the most current knowledge, skills and competencies in psychology and related fields. Careers related to this include statistics, public relations, social work, mental health, human resources.
Rehabilitation & Disability Studies

This program prepares you to work in a variety of human service settings to provide support services to individuals with disabilities. Students can use the undergraduate degree as a launching point towards a graduate study in related professional fields.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Undergraduate Endorsement (Grades PreK-12)
Endorsement
This program is to provide pre-service teachers ESOL endorsement from the State of Kansas. The need for ESOL-licensed teachers both in Kansas and nationwide continues to grow. In Kansas, the number of English Learners (ELs) has increased almost 3,000% in the last 20 years.
Trauma-Informed Education: Social-Emotional Learning & Psychological Well-Being Certificate
Certificate
This 18 credit hour certificate program will further educators, mental health professionals and others in the science of social-emotional learning, development, and interventions, and aspects related to diversity and systems change. It can be completed entirely online, or with face-to-face course options available.
