2024-2025 Meal Plans

Emporia State University offers three meal plan options for students. All students who live on campus are required to have one of these three meal plans. The prices below are for the 2024-2025 academic year.

FIRST TIME, ON-CAMPUS, RESIDENCE HALL STUDENTS HAVE THE FOLLOWING TWO MEAL PLAN OPTIONS:

All-Access Plan: $2,325 per semester

This meal plan allows you unlimited access to the Hornets Nest as well as 5 guest meal swipes per semester. You may enter the Hornets Nest as frequently as you wish during hours of operation, with no restrictions on the number of personal meals you may eat per day or the number of times you may enter the Hornets Nest per week.

This plan also includes $125 Dining Dollars per semester and is already included in the price of the plan. Dining Dollars can be used at any dining location, including the Hornets Nest, Hornet Express, and Starbucks.

BLOCK 150 MEAL PLAN: $2,325 PER SEMESTER

This plan allows you 150 meals per semester in the Hornets nest. You may enter the Hornets Nest as frequently as you wish during hours of operation. This allows flexibility on the number of personal meals you may eat per day or week.

TRANSFERS AND RETURNING STUDENTS CAN PICK FROM ABOVE OPTIONS OR THE OPTION BELOW

BLOCK 65 MEAL PLAN: $1,510 PER SEMESTER

Dining Dollars

Your meal plan comes with Dining Dollars, which is already built into the price of the meal plan. Dining Dollars is like a debit account on your Hornet ID card. Each time you use Dining Dollars, the amount spent is deducted from your balance. Dining Dollars are primarily for use in the Hornet Express. However, you may also use your Dining Dollars for guest entry into the Hornets Nest, or for your own entry if you are on the block meal plans and run out of meal swipes.
Any unused Dining Dollars at the end of the fall semester roll over to the spring semester. Any unused Dining Dollars at the end of the spring semester are forfeited; they are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Commuter Plan

The Commuter Plan is available to any member of the campus community — students, faculty and staff. Commuter Plans are sold on a semester-by-semester basis. The plan includes a total of 75 meals that can be used in the Hornets Nest and the Hornet Express. If the cost of the meal exceeds $7 in any retail location, the buyer will need to pay the difference. The cost of the Commuter Plan is $515 per semester.

Hornet Bucks/Declining Balance Dollars

The Hornet Bucks, or Declining Balance program gives members of the campus community the opportunity to load money onto their Hornet ID Cards and spend those dollars in any dining venue in the Memorial Union. For more information about Hornet Bucks and the Hornet ID Card, stop by or call the Memorial Union ID Office at (620) 341-5859, Room 022 in the Union.

Add Hornet Bucks to Your Hornet Card

You must add Hornet Bucks with cash, check, or debit/credit card at the ID Office in the Memorial Union. You may also call the ID Office at (620) 341-5859 with your student ID number and put money on the Hornet Card with a credit card. Funds can be added in any increment.

Hornet Bucks refunds

For balances greater than $5, come to the ID Office and fill out a refund request form. Your remaining balance will be refunded in the form of a check.

What happens to Hornet Bucks each semester or if you graduate

Hornet Bucks stay on your Hornet Card over each semester and after you graduate. After three years of inactivity on the card, the funds are considered abandoned and will be removed from the account. It is the responsibility of the cardholder to request the balance to be refunded.
