At Emporia State University, we’re here to support you through a successful college career. Campus groups and resources are available for you to connect with others, find support, get involved and help others in the campus community and beyond.

Campus Services

  • Student Wellness Center Health Services: Health services at the campus wellness center include free, accessible and ongoing HIV/STI testing with safe-space trained staff, assistance with hormone injections, referrals for initiation of gender-affirming care, safer sex products and education as well as routine primary care.
  • Student Wellness Center Counseling Services: In the wellness center you can take advantage of individual and group counseling services, trained clinicians to write gender-affirming support letters, art therapy, LGBTQ+/Ally support groups, art therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction and more.

Campus Involvement Opportunities

  • Emporia State LGBTQ+ Alumni Facebook Group: Students, faculty, staff and friends of the university who are LGBTQ+ or an ally can join this group to engage in progress and support for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly on ESU’s campus.
  • Identity + Orientation Awareness Training: Get educated in topics of sex and gender, gender identity and sexual orientation, understanding common terms and demonstrating respect and support for all identities and orientations. Learn more by contacting report@emporia.edu.
  • LGBTQ+ Advisory Council: Consisting of students, faculty, staff and alumni, the Council addresses basic needs of ESU LGBTQ+ identifying people and works to create a safer and more inclusive learning environment.
  • LGBTQ+ Training: Get information and resources to learn more about a variety of subjects in LGBTQ+ communities from Nyk Robertson, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion director, including BIPOC, intimate violence, health and wellness inclusive practices, religious LGBTQ+ students, international students and more.   • People Respecting Individuality & Diversity in Education (PRIDE): PRIDE at ESU is for allies, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning persons on campus and provides community, celebration, advocacy and education.
  • The Healthy Relationship & Interpersonal Violence Education (THRIVE): Through educational initiatives and outreach, THRIVE promotes a safe environment with hopes to reduce sexual violence and empower individuals to engage in healthy relationships.

Emporia Community Services

Beyond the services and opportunities available on campus, Emporia the town has:

  • Bloom House Youth Services: Intern with an organization offering vital support for young people in the Emporia Community. Bloom House Youth Services provides shelter and services to homeless and runaway youth under 18 years of age. Learn more at bloomhouseks.org.
