The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) at Emporia State University offers one baccalaureate degree granted by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BID). The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies recognizes that, for many students, the acquisition of knowledge involves seeking information through various methods and fields of study. The BID program incorporates courses from multiple areas of academic interest and expertise. Whether a student chooses to design a program of study along the lines of individual interest, or to develop expertise in a number of different disciplines, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies has the degree program that will help students achieve their educational goals.
The Information Resource Studies (IRS) program has been discontinued. Students currently pursuing the IRS major can complete the program; new students interested in the IRS curriculum should talk to the IDS advisor about pursuing information resource studies as an interdisciplinary program within IDS.
