Jim Brown
MS - Health, Physical Education, & Recreation, 2006

Jim Brown is the physical educator at Slate Creek Elementary School in Newton, KS. He was awarded the KAHPERD Service Award in 2001 and earned the KAHPERD Model School Award in 1997. In 2014, Jim was named the national Jump Rope for Heart Coordinator by SHAPE America. He recently worked to become a NASPE Director of Physical Activity, as well as a "Fuel Up to Play 60" program advisor.

Kathy Hines
BSE - Physical Education, 1971

Kathy Hines is currently a teacher working with freshmen in a transition/at risk program. In 2009, she was named the USD 409 Teacher of the Year, as well as the Rotary Club Teacher of the Year. In 2013, Kathy was inducted into the Kansas Hall Fame in Dodge City, KS. She has served on Central District AAHPERD and was the chair of the Atchison Recreation Commission from 2003 to 2014.

Jeff Hulse
BSE - Physical Education, 1977
MS - Curriculum & Instruction, 1990

Jeff Hulse has been a physical educator at Olathe East High School (KS) for 38 years. As the head softball coach, he has compiled an .935 winning percentage with a record of 332 wins and only 23 losses. He was selected as the National Federation of High School Coaches Association 2013 National Softball Coach of the Year.


Chat Williams
BS - Recreation, 1997

Chat Williams is currently the Supervisor for Norman Regional Health Club and the Director of Youth Performance in Norman, OK. He is the author of multiple training DVDs, has published over 25 articles in scholarly journals, and made more than 30 professional presentations at the state, regional, and national levels. In 2004, he was selected as the NSCA State Director of the Year, and in 2013 he was selected as the NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year.

Dr. Bill Stinson
Honorary Award

Dr. Bill Stinson received the HPER Hall of Honor honorary award for his 39 years of service to Emporia State's HPER department. During his career, Dr. Stinson received the KAHPERD President’s Award and the Central District Honor Award. He served at the national level on the Council of Physical Education for Children. He has written several books and journal articles and organized numerous professional development workshops.
