Sara Schwerdtfeger currently teaches math and science methods courses for graduate and undergraduate courses and supervises student teaching interns for Emporia State's Professional Development Schools.

Schwerdtfeger earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Emporia State as well as her master's degree in elementary subject matter and her master's endorsement in building leadership. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in mathematics education at Kansas State University.

As a former elementary school teacher, Schwerdtfeger holds a Kansas Teaching License with qualifications in K-9 elementary, 5-9 middle school science, K-9 ESL and PK-12 building leadership. While teaching in public schools in Kansas, she has had the opportunity to be a lead teacher in writing district curriculum and assessments, facilitate a 21st Century Learning STREAM grant in her school, and mentor student teaching interns in her classroom.
