Art About

A community of educators, artists, and designers

About Us

Emporia State University’s Art program is comprised of a tight knit community of educators, artists, and designers. Students can work with internationally recognized faculty to obtain a degree in one of several studio concentration areas, pursue a teaching degree in Art Education, or prepare for Masters’ study in Art Therapy.

Our distinctive programs include the only concentration in Glass Forming in Kansas and the only Engraving Arts concentration in the world — both of which feature state-of-the-art equipment. Our Art Forum Visiting Artist Lecture series connects students to a wide array of professionals from around the globe, and our internships provide direct, community-based experience with clients. Art program faculty and staff are dedicated to preparing students for a career in and a lifelong relationship with the visual arts. It is our objective to provide programs and curricula that foster passion for the arts and give students the opportunity to study art according to their individual goals. We prepare students to pursue advanced degrees in art, art therapy, and/or art history, to work as professional artists, or to teach art in secondary or elementary schools by offering comprehensive and rigorous curricular programs.
