Priority Admission Checklist

To secure and maintain your Priority Admission Option to the ESU nursing program, complete each of the following steps:

• Apply to Emporia State University. Submit your application for admission to ESU and receive your official acceptance to the ESU pre-nursing program.
• Schedule an Advising Appointment. Meet with your academic advisor to plan your coursework and next steps toward full admission into the BSN program.
• Complete the Nursing Priority Admission Option Intent Form. Confirm your interest and intent by submitting the online form.
• Receive Official Priority Admission Option Acceptance. Once your form is received and reviewed, you will receive email confirmation of your priority placement in the program.
• Maintain Priority Admission Option Requirements. Continue to meet all academic and program requirements, including prerequisite courses and GPA standards.
• Apply for the Nursing Program. Apply online during the application window of your identified program semester start.

Priority Admission Option Requirements

• Complete the 60 required non-nursing credit hours from the list of non-nursing courses located in the “Curriculum” section of the ESU Nursing Admission Policies.
• Achieve a “C” or higher in required non-nursing coursework regardless of overall cumulative GPA.
• Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA for admission to the nursing program.
• Complete a minimum of 30 hours at Emporia State University prior to admission in the nursing program.

Additional Notes

Students who enroll in pre-nursing courses at Emporia State University are eligible for the Priority Admission Option to the nursing program. This option secures a provisional seat in the BSN program. The seat becomes a full admission offer only after all admission requirements are successfully completed and verified.
