Bachelor's of Science (BSE) in Elementary Education Online Route

Your degree. Your way.

Elementary Education Online Route

Our online route allows you to participate in our award-winning elementary education program from a location that is convenient for you. We care about you and your progress, and we are committed to helping you develop an individualized plan of study that meets your needs.

In the online program, you will collaborate with other students studying to be teachers. Your program will culminate with a year-long student teaching internship. Internships are currently available in Kansas and bordering states (Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Missouri).

The online elementary education route prepares students for licensure in the state of Kansas. Individuals seeking licensure in a different state should schedule a meeting with our Licensure and Certification Officer (620-341-5412) to discuss their specific needs.

Elementary education majors on the online route may elect to add one or more of the following options:

Options

Paraeducator Option
  • Students who select the paraeducator option are employed by a school district as a paraeducator while simultaneously completing courses online or in the evenings. With this option, your duties as a school district employee earn you credit toward your elementary education degree.
Elementary Education Unified Option
  • Students who select the elementary education unified option earn an elementary education unified license, allowing them to work as an elementary classroom teacher or a special education teacher after graduation.
Four-Week Opportunities Option
  • Students who select the four-week opportunities option enhance their student teaching semester with a second student teaching placement overseas or with an award-winning teacher.
