It’s that time of the semester again! You’ve passed midterms and can see the end of the semester approaching, yet now you have to jump the hurdles of all these research papers. You’ve received your assignment instructions for your final project, and now you don’t know where to start. Not to fear, your librarians are here! Starting April 15th, the University Libraries & Archives will be hosting an online Graduate Research Workshop. This workshop is available through Canvas so once you have been enrolled you can work at your own pace and access it throughout the rest of your time at Emporia State University.

What You Will Learn: There are three different modules you can access in any order you’d like. The first module you will start brainstorming topics. The second module you will learn to use library resources and how to use advanced searching. The final module, you will learn how to evaluate resources to construct a literature review.

Time Frame: Each module should take about an hour to complete, so you are looking at a 6-hour commitment. However, you can either do the modules all in one day, over the weekend or at your own pace.

What’s So Special About This Workshop: This online workshop allows for you to use your own research topic (or just a practice topic) and gather feedback from a librarian about your research process. We will give you tips for your search techniques, offer citation help and suggestions, and walk you through formatting your APA paper (or MLA by request).

How to get Enrolled: To get enrolled in this free online workshop, contact Bethanie O’Dell at or 620-341-5032.
