Nursing + Student Wellness Center Construction

Groundbreaking Ceremony April 24

Join us as we celebrate the start of construction on the Nursing + Student Wellness Center with a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24. The celebration will be held at the new facility's site, located south of Abigail Morse Hall and across from Cremer Hall. All are welcome to attend.

About the Nursing + Student Wellness Center

By constructing a new 32,000-square-foot Nursing + Student Wellness Center, Emporia State University will significantly enhance the academic experience for students and fulfill several logistical and fiscal goals that prioritize infrastructure consolidation and energy consumption. Completion of the new on-campus facility is expected in the fall of 2025.

ESU’s highly regarded nursing program currently operates at Newman Regional Health’s Cora Miller Hall. Constructing the new Nursing + Student Wellness Center will allow ESU to expand and enhance its nursing program, bring students and faculty to the center of campus and provide the nursing program state-of-the-art labs and learning spaces. The center will also house the university’s student wellness, healthcare and counseling services.

The new center will be built in the center of campus, where Central Morse Hall was previously located.

Construction of the Nursing + Student Wellness Center has been made possible by the state of Kansas, donors to ESU’s Together, Forward campaign, the Walter S. & Evan C. Jones Testamentary Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee and the Sunderland Foundation. The Jones Trust and the Sunderland Foundation have each awarded ESU $5 million grants for the facility’s construction.
