Instructional Specialist: Elementary STEM Concentration
This 30-credit hour online program is intended for the teacher interested in STEM education. It is designed to provide the graduate student with courses in all areas of STEM education that are applicable to the classroom.
This program does not lead to a teaching license.
Graduates from this program will develop their:
- Content knowledge in STEM education
- Awareness of current trends and opportunities in STEM education
- Teaching skills in STEM education that engage students in investigation and critical thinking
- Coaching and leadership skills in order to support teachers in STEM education

Students must submit official bachelor’s degree transcripts containing at least 60 credit hours of coursework and final grades. Any additional transcripts from college credit accumulated after the bachelor’s degree MUST be submitted if you will be using these credits for transfer credit or for last 60 GPA. Transcripts are considered official when they arrive in the Graduate Office in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution or are received through a secure electronic transcript service to gradinfo@emporia.edu.

Why ESU?
ESU began offering the instructional specialist-elementary STEM concentration in Fall 2014. While the position of STEM education coordinator did not exist until recently, they are now hired by schools, universities, companies, and not-for-profits.
