Lambda Pi Eta

Lambda Pi Eta is the honor society for communication majors

Emporia State University’s Xi Sigma Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) received its charter on May 17, 2002, and became a Recognized Student Organization by the Associated Student Government of ESU the following fall. Lambda Pi Eta is the honor society for communication majors at four-year institutions of higher education that is sanctioned by and affiliated with our national professional organization, the National Communication Association.

Lambda Pi Eta represents the first letters of what Aristotle designated as the three modes of persuasion: Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. The official colors of Lambda Pi Eta are crimson (to represent the Communication discipline) and silver (in recognition of speech and oratory skills). The purpose of the honor society is to promote outstanding academic achievement in the Communication discipline.

More than two hundred communication majors have met the rigid requirements and been inducted into the Xi Sigma chapter. The honor society participates in a variety of service opportunities on campus and in our community. Significant annual events include co-hosting guest speakers, hosting back-to-school events that introduce new students interested in communication to the discipline, the faculty, and the larger ESU community, and an annual senior recognition reception that honors all of our graduating seniors.
