Clinton D. Longacre, PhD, is the Director the Sport Leadership & Recreation program in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. He joined the department in 1999.  

Dr. Longacre is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (National Recreation and Park Association). He has served in teaching and administrative positions at the University of Oklahoma, University of Tulsa, United States Sports Academy, and East Carolina University.  

He is an international lecturer and has lectured in Hong Cong, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. He has served as the Vice President of the Faculty Senate at the University of Tulsa, was a Faculty Senate member at Emporia State, and has served in numerous other support positions during his academic tenure.     

Dr. Longacre earned his doctorate in Community/Adult Education and his Master of Science degree in Recreation Administration at the University of Oklahoma.  His Bachelor of Arts degree in Parks and Recreation Administration was earned at California State University, Chico.  

Some examples of Dr. Longacre’s non-academic professional experience include serving as the Superintendent of Recreation for the City of Norman, OK and the Administrative Director of Athletics, Aquatics, and Outdoor Recreation for the City of San Mateo, CA. While working in non-academic professional settings he has served on numerous boards and committees.       

Dr. Longacre’s awards include the President’s Citation (Kansas Recreation and Park Association; KAHPERD Recreation Professional of the Year (Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance); President’s Award (Oklahoma Recreation and Park Society); and the Leadership Award (Kansas Recreation and Park Association).  

He is presently a member of the National Recreation and Park Association, Kansas Recreation and Park Association, and the Kansas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. Dr. Longacre has served in a variety of positions for the National Recreation and Park Association, National Community Education Association, Kansas Recreation and Park Association, Kansas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, Oklahoma Community Education Association, Oklahoma Association for Health, Physical Education and Dance, and the Oklahoma Recreation and Park Association.
