Dr. Scott Waters grew up in Emporia and attended Emporia State, where he received his bachelor's degree in elementary education and his master's degree in administration. He taught elementary school in Emporia before earning his doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Oregon in 1983.
Dr. Waters has been on the faculty of Emporia State since 1985, teaching social studies methods, foundations of education, and curriculum design courses, and supervising elementary education interns. He has had the opportunity to travel and do research in China through a Fulbright program, spend six months in New Zealand conducting research on social studies methods in that country, teach for a year in the Philippines, and most recently take Emporia State students to Korea to teach ESL.
