Applying your knowledge to practice
Field Placement + Licensure
We are here to help you with guidance and information in the areas of licensure, field experience, restricted licensure, student teaching, and coordination of the Family Literacy Program.
Field Experiences
Field Experience places students from all areas of campus in observations, practicums, internships, tutoring placements in schools across the state of Kansas and parts of Missouri.
Restricted Licensure
Our Restricted License is to serve as an alternative for career-changers who select middle/secondary grades in teaching, school counselor, or library media specialist as a career after completing a degree in a field other than education. It is intended to address teacher shortages and make licensure more accessible. An individual will be able to complete teacher licensure requirements while employed as a teacher.
Student Teaching
A crucial experience for all education majors. Our student teachers - also called pre-service teachers or teacher candidates - do their student teaching in Block 3, if elementary education major, or Phase II, if a secondary education major.
Family Literacy Program
The goal of the Family Literacy Program is to provide our college students experience as tutors working with young people in a school setting and give quality instruction and mentoring to the classroom students.
