Support for educators + education
Jones Institute for Educational Excellence
The Jones Institute for Educational Excellence is a resource for practicing teachers to receive professional development. Its programs serve to increase educators' abilities and skills, and - through its Kansas Future Teacher Academy - have high school students consider careers in education. Along with the Flint Hills Writing Project, Great Plains Center for National Teacher Certification, and the Kansas Regional Reading Recovery University Training Center, JIEE hosts workshops and conferences for educators throughout the year.
About JIEE
Since its inception in 1982, the Jones Institute for Educational Excellence has been an educational resource to The Teachers College, Emporia State University, the State of Kansas, and - at times - the nation. The institute provides leadership to the profession through encouraging pre-college students to consider teaching as a career, provides access to educational experts through pre-service and in-service activities, and supports on-going mentoring and career development for those who have entered the profession.
Mission
The mission of Jones Institute for Educational Excellence is to provide educational leadership and service, improve the quality of instruction and teaching, conduct policy studies on emerging issues, promote excellence in all areas of learning, and contribute to the educational dialogue on national trends and issues. It is part of The Teachers College at Emporia State University.
