Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology provides undergraduate training for those students who plan either to enter the work force upon graduation or do graduate work in Psychology. Undergraduate preparation is also offered for students who plan to teach Psychology at the secondary level or minor in Psychology.
At the graduate level (master's degree), training is provided in Clinical Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and School Psychology. The Specialist in Education degree is also offered in School Psychology. In addition, the department offers an online program for the certificate in the psychology of learning and exceptionality. The department is part of The Teachers College at Emporia State University.

Bachelor of Science in Education, Psychology
This teaching field prepares the student to teach psychology at the secondary level (middle and high school). This plan consists of 24 hours of required psychology courses. A second teaching field is required.
Minor in Psychology
The minor in psychology consists of a total number of 18 credit hours. Twelve hours are specified by the department, the other six hours are electives
Master of Science, Psychology - Clinical Psychology Concentration
The Clinical Psychology program will give you the training and experience you need to help others. Our Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology prepares you for a professional career in clinical psychology or to enter a doctoral program in psychology.
Master of Science, Psychology - Industrial/Organizational Concentration
Industrial/Organizational Psychology has been a legitimate specialty area of psychology for 100 years. It is both a science and a practice. As a science, it is concerned with understanding how people behave in work situations. As a practice, it is concerned with finding creative, research based solutions to problems concerning people in the workplace.
Master of Science, Psychology - School Psychology
In Emporia State’s School Psychology program, the core trainers are tenured professors, with doctorates in school psychology and several decades of experience in the field. If you are interested in working with children with diverse characteristics and backgrounds, and in providing them preventative as well as remedial services to help them achieve success, then our NASP-accredited program may be for you.
Education Specialist (Ed.S.) - School Psychology
The School Psychology program progresses from a 35 credit hour Master of Science (M.S.) earned en passant, with its emphasis on theory and research, to the 30 credit-hour terminal Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) with its focus on greater skill application and the practicum field experience.
Psychology of Learning and Exceptionality
The Teachers College at Emporia State University offers a graduate certificate program in the Psychology of Learning and Exceptionality. The certificate program is meant for teaching professionals in community colleges and secondary settings who teach college level courses and who need to meet the 18-hour coursework requirements to meet highly qualified requirements of the Higher Learning Commission.
