Teaching Philosophy

"A teacher must enjoy working with children of all abilities and backgrounds, effectively communicate ideas and knowledge, and model enthusiasm for lifelong learning . . . With all the responsibilities a teacher has, the rewards are worth all the work and worries that go along with the profession.  Watching a child excel to his/her potential while building a positive self-concept is my greatest reward as a teacher.  The fact that I have made a difference in the lives of many children makes me proud."

Honors and Awards

  • QPA presenter for Jay Shideler Elementary School
  • 1996-97 "Teacher Who Makes a Difference" nominee, Southwestern Bell

What People Say

"To her students, the kids see Mrs. Kerth as the leader of their team, not just their teacher.  She works at building a spirt of teamwork with each class.  Her students develop pride in their accomplishments as individuals and as 'Mrs. Kerth's' room.  They learn to ask for or give help when needed, to individuals or the classroom."

Al L. Camblin, Jay Shideler Elementary School principal (retired)

"Tracy has touched my heart this year with her willing desire to include a severely multiply handicapped child into her classroom.   She models humor, acceptance, and creativity in finding ways for him to be involved with the other children in learning activities in her classroom."

Jodi Dinkins, learning specialist, Morse Elementary School

"Mrs. Kerth was and is an excellent teacher.  She is a strong role model that all students can admire and trust as a friend."

Ashley DeFries, former student
