Heather Caswell, Ph.D., Assistant Professor

Dr. Heather Caswell holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy: Reading-Language Arts, and has an undergrad emphasis in Families Studies and Human Development. Dr. Caswell is English as a Second Language endorsed and is a NBPTS Certified Candidate Support Provider for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards candidates.

A Teacher of Promise and Horizon Award recipient, Dr. Caswell has seven years of teaching experience in early childhood education as well as experience supervising preservice teachers in various pK-12 educational settings. As a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant, she  has presented at the international, national, state, and district levels focusing on emerging literacy, visual literacy, family literacy, developmentally appropriate and authentic assessments, as well adult learning, and technology. Dr. Caswell actively serves as the liaison between The Teachers College and the Center for Early Childhood Education.
