Cultural Celebrations

Hispanic Heritage Month

Our Diversity Student Programs team, in partnership with the Emporia community honors the Hispanic culture during our kickoff event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. The event, located on Kellogg Circle, brings in several hundred people from the community as well as students. Local gift, drink and food vendors as well as dance performance groups help bring the kickoff event to life each year!

Dr. Martin Luther King Week

During the month of January, the office of Diversity Student Programs celebrates Dr. King through a series of weeklong events. We celebrate Dr. Kings legacy by bringing in guest speakers, and hosting immersive experiences and programs that highlight the history, trials, and tribulations of the Civil Rights movement.

Black History Month

During the month of February, the office of Diversity Student Programs celebrates Black History month through a series of events. We honor the month by bringing in guest speakers, and hosting immersive experiences that highlight the history, trials, and tribulations of black people.

Women’s History Month

During the month of March the office of Diversity Student Programs celebrates Women’s History month through a series of events. We honor the month by bringing in guest speakers, and hosting immersive experiences that highlight the history, trials and tribulations of women from every background.

Disability Awareness Week

During the month of April the office of Diversity Student Programs celebrates Women’s History month through a series of events. We honor the month by bringing in guest speakers, and hosting immersive experiences and programs that seeks to educate the ESU community on disabilities in all its various mental and physical forms.
