Announcing the start of SCALA’s 2017-2018 T-shirt contest!
Submit your designs now through January 19th, 2018 and yours might just get picked to grace the front of our 2017-2018 SCALA t-shirts. Submit any design you wish, no restrictions apply (however, we would advise that profanity and vulgarity will severely hurt your chances of winning!). Please submit the design as a vector file (created in Photoshop or Illustrator) to Brady Lund at firstname.lastname@example.org by January 19th at 11:59PM to be considered. ALL SLIM students – incoming, current, and alumni – are invited to participate. The winning design will receive two free t-shirts: one of last years’ design, and one of this years’! (that’s, like… a $20 value!)
Interested in SLIM History?
We have a growing library of historical news clippings, photos, timeline, and articles available at the ESU SCALA website. Have a contribution you’d like to make? We’d love to accept copies of images/articles/coursework from the early history of the library school (pre-1990, preferably, but we’ll take anything)! Send an email to Brady at email@example.com. Brady is also working on a substantial History of SLIM which should be published in March of 2018. For more information, check back on the SCALA website, or send Brady an email at the address above and he will be happy to send an update as he puts the finishing touches on the book.
Interested in writing/publishing articles/artwork/fiction with SCALA?
We’d be happy to consider your work for publication on the SCALA website! Send submissions to Brady or to the SCALA Webmaster Jeana at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll review all submissions during our monthly SCALA meeting for publication on the website.
We need your help!
Incoming students, SCALA is looking for nominations for cohort representatives! If you may be interested in this position, please send an email to Brady or Vice-President Danica White email@example.com. We will also accept nominations during orientation and up to the first class weekend, before voting on reps! Thank you for your consideration!
Spotlight on Students
Mohammad Alzahrani is a full-time student here at Emporia State University in the School of Library and Information Management. He obtained his Bachelor’s in Library and Information Science in his home country of Saudi Arabia. Mohammad was chosen to attend ESU to attain his Master’s in Library and Information Science specifically to return to the academic library where he worked previously and begin training other employees. He will be teaching others what he has learned here in the SLIM program. Mohammed says he prefers the weekend classes because he enjoys being ‘face to face’ with the instructor and other students. Mohammed plans to graduate Spring 2018.
