(Prerequisite, SO 450 and Junior status.) This course is designed to provide the student with an in-depth knowledge of major criminological theories. Topics will include (but not limited to): classical, positivist, functionalist perspectives, etc., and associated theorists. By analyzing a variety of theories, it is also hoped that the student will develop a theoretical view of his/her own and a critical (i.e., analytical) orientation toward theory in particular and social interaction in general. This is a capstone course for the major.
