Emporia State University prepares for winter commencement

Emporia State University’s winter commencement is Saturday, Dec. 17. William L. White Auditorium in downtown Emporia will be filled with the sights and sounds of ceremonies and celebrations marking conferring of undergraduate and graduate degrees beginning at 10 a.m.

Just more than 550 students are candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Commencement speakers will include Fred Logan of Leawood, a member of the Kansas Board of Regents; ESU Provost Tes Mehring and Interim President H. Edward Flentje. The commencement address will be delivered by Dr. J. Richard Schrock, ESU professor of biological sciences and 2011 Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professor.

For those unable to make the trip to Emporia, ESU will offer live, streaming video of the commencement exercise. Links to the video coverage will be posted on the university’s website, www.emporia.edu.
