Momentum building in ‘Now & Forever’ campaign with upcoming announcement

October 4, 2013

Emporia State University’s School of Business is the focus of the next celebratory bell-ringing event at Emporia State next Friday, Oct. 11.

“We’re excited to invite the community to help us celebrate a leadership gift to the Now & Forever campaign,” said DenaSue Potestio, Foundation president and vice president for university advancement, noting that the festivities will include ringing Silent Joe, the bell in the stone tower southeast of Welch Stadium.

The gift recognizes the service and achievement of Dr. John C. Rich, professor of accounting and information systems and director of student affairs and alumni for the School of Business. Rich, a faculty member at Emporia State since 1968, is part of the leadership team for Now & Forever: The Campaign for Emporia State University.

Ringing the bell has become one of the campaign’s audible icons of success.

“Each time we receive a sizeable gift like the one we’re announcing next week, we ring Silent Joe to tell our supporters we’re ‘Silent No More,’” said Jennifer Denton, the Foundation’s vice president for administration and stewardship, echoing the comprehensive campaign’s theme.

“With this generous gift to the School of Business, we will be able to expand our reach and heighten our branding of both the School of Business and the quality programs we offer in Emporia, Kansas City and online,” said Dr. Kristie Ogilvie, dean of the School of Business.

The gift’s benefactors and their reasons for making it will be revealed during the celebration, scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Sauder Alumni Center, 1500 Highland St., Emporia. The event is open to the public. RSVP to Michelle Corkins, or 620-341-6460.
