Hornets head to China

May 17, 2013

This isn't your typical road trip for Emporia State's volleyball team. A traveling party of approximately 20 teammates, coaches and Hornet athletics representatives is packing for a trip across the Pacific to Beijing, China.

For Bing Xu, Hornet volleyball head coach, the trip is an opportunity to take his team back to where he learned to play the game he now coaches.

The team leaves Sunday for a week in Asia. They have four games scheduled with Chinese universities, but will also have time to do some sightseeing at the Great Wall and the Olympic Stadium in China's capital, where Xu and his wife and assistant coach Xiangping (Ping) Wang grew up.

For many of the team members, though, the trip is the first time they've been outside the United States. Hear more about their thoughts in a video posted on Emporia State's YouTube channel, http://bit.ly/12HFvaZ. Team members will be posting on Twitter during their China trip: #esuvbchina
