Questions Frequently Asked by Students
What will I learn at the camp?
Participants will be able to explain the principles and competencies of adaptive leadership, see where they can use adaptive leadership in their own life, evaluate and critique ideas and situations with differing perspectives, and generate solutions to adaptive challenges using these principles.
Who will I learn from at the camp?
All instruction is facilitated by honors students at Emporia State University partnering with KLC Faculty in Residence. You can learn more about the facilitators on the People Profiles page.
What do I need to bring?
Since this is an overnight camp, please bring anything you need for one night. Participants will need to provide their own bed sheets (or a sleeping bag), blankets, towels, and pillows.
What is the dress code?
Dress is casual for this camp. Tennis shoes are recommended. Come prepared to be comfortable.
I’m a high school senior who just graduated, can I come?
Yes! We would love for you to attend. Grab a friend to join you.
I am currently in the 8th grade but will graduate before camp begins, can I come?
Based on input from students who completed the camp in the past, the decision was made to require at least one year of high school before attending. Next year you will be better prepared for this experience. Please plan to attend in the future!
Can I only stay half the camp?
This immersive experience is a two-day camp. Unfortunately, if you can not stay for the full two days then we recommend you choose the alternate camp dates offered, because you will not get the full experience and miss out on valuable information and activities. We invite you to look at the other dates to see if they work better for your schedule.
I have food allergies. Will you accommodate me?
Yes, please let us know of any food allergies via the registration form and we can plan accordingly. We will be eating meals at the Hornet’s Nest cafeteria, so they will have food that will fit your dietary restrictions.
