Hornet Orientation & Welcome Week

Hornet Orientation and Welcome Week includes several days of events, sessions, and activities at the beginning of the fall semester to welcome you to Emporia State University, help you connect with your peers, and provide you with important resources for your success. From helping you meet new friends to learning your way around campus, we are here to help make your transition to Emporia State as smooth and enjoyable as possible. All new students are highly encouraged to participate in Hornet Orientation and Welcome Week events, whether you will be living on or off campus. Only a few of the orientation events are for students living on campus. All other events are open to all new students, including those living off campus and transfer students.

Friday, August 19

  Family & Guest Farewell Reception
3:15pm - 4:00pm, Memorial Union Ballroom

Join President Allison Garrett at the farewell reception in the Memorial Union Ballroom. This event gives parents, guests, and new students an opportunity to meet faculty, staff, and administrators on campus, while preparing parents and guests to say farewell and new students to kick-off the start of life at Emporia State University.

At the floor meeting, you will get to know your Resident Assistant and your floor mates, receive important information about living in the residence halls, and learn more about Hornet Orientation events. This meeting is required for all students living in the residence halls.

Come have a blast kicking off Hornet Orientation 2016!!! We will give you all the information you need to know about orientation and the first week of classes, but more importantly how to win prizes! The first 200 students will receive an ESU t-shirt! Students will receive a ticket to be entered to win a tailgate tent and chairs and other ESU swag!!!

Come join the Party at Playfair! Playfair is unlike anything you have experienced. It's entertainment! It’s a highly interactive! It’s full of fun and laughter! It's the perfect way for you to make new friends! Afterward enjoy free pizza before you head to the movie!

Jump start your morning with all your new friends by grabbing something to eat, taking pictures at the photo booth and gearing up for Mini Majors Camp. The first 200 students will receive an ESU t-shirt! Note: The Hornets Nest does not open until 11:30am.

Figuring out where your classes are on the first day can be challenging! Bring a copy of your class schedule and student leaders will walk with you around campus and show you where your classrooms are within the academic buildings. Stingers Up!!! Come to Webb Hall at 1:00pm to Beat the Buzz! The first 200 students receive a white t-shirt to wear to the highlighter party! You will meet tons of new students as you work together and compete to win prizes!! Winning teams receive ESU t-shirts! We will announce the TV and iPad mini winners during this session (students must be present at Beat the Buzz to win the TV or iPad mini).

  Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment Round 3

The final round of Panhellenic formal recruitment is referred to as Preference Day. You must have attended Round 1, Round 2, and be registered for Panhellenic formal recruitment to participate. This is where potential new members are invited to specific chapters and make a final preference on which chapter(s) they would be interested in joining.
