Hornet Orientation & Welcome Week

Hornet Orientation and Welcome Week includes several days of events, sessions, and activities at the beginning of the fall semester to welcome you to Emporia State University, help you connect with your peers, and provide you with important resources for your success. From helping you meet new friends to learning your way around campus, we are here to help make your transition to Emporia State as smooth and enjoyable as possible. All new students are highly encouraged to participate in Hornet Orientation and Welcome Week events, whether you will be living on or off campus. Only a few of the orientation events are for students living on campus. All other events are open to all new students, including those living off campus and transfer students.

Thursday, August 16

Morse Complex Move-In

Friday, August 17

Parent Farewell
12:00pm - 2:00pm, Main Street MU

Stop by to write a letter to your student which will be delivered to them during the first few weeks of class. Snap a photo to capture this big day! Visit with select campus resources to ask any lingering questions.

Floor Meetings
4:00pm - 5:00pm, Residence Halls

Required for all on campus residents to attend

Welcome Dinner
5:00pm - 6:00pm, Hornet's Nest

Everyone is invited to kick the school year off at this dinner! Those who are not on a meal plan will have their dinner cost covered.

"Speak About It is a performance about consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships. The show includes engaging, entertaining, and emotional monologues and skits, written by a diversity of college students, that will jumpstart a conversation on campus about sexuality, sexual assault prevention, healthy relationships, and consent. Using humor and humanity, Speak About It relays the wisdom of real life experiences and shares examples of how to give and get consent, be a supportive friend, talk about sexual activity with partners and peers, and intervene in unsafe situations. We know you want to Speak About It, we'll show you how."

Playfair is unlike anything you have experienced before. It is a non-threatening way for you to meet other new students and make new campus friendships! Playfair is a team-building experience that has a long-lasting effect. It's more than an "performance" it's an "experience" where everyone gets to participate.
