Leaders for the Common Good Retreat is a five-day, overnight, out-of-state, unique, and powerful leadership experience. This retreat was created for upper-class students, who are getting ready to graduate, to prepare them to be leaders for the common good. This experience is unlike any other leadership experience you have participated in at Emporia State University. In previous years we have traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado and Nashville, Tennessee for the retreat. There is limited space available and therefore we will only accept a small group of students to participate in this experience. The retreat is designed for juniors and seniors, who have experienced leadership training and development from various programs and courses at ESU.
RETREAT PURPOSE: Preparing ESU junior and senior students to be leaders for the common good on campus and in the community. Students will participate in an intensive leadership experience designed to challenge their perspectives and stretch their comfort zone.
RETREAT CURRICULUM: Students will engage in interactive activities and experiences to explore, develop, and reflect on adaptive leadership. At the retreat, students will use their knowledge and experience with the Kansas Leadership Center competencies to engage in exploring how to be leaders for the common good at ESU and in the community.
Develop a deeper understanding of adaptive leadership.
Explore and experiment how to use adaptive leadership.
Understand how groups and teams can respond to adaptive challenges.
Create a personal leadership map of your goals in being an adaptive leader for the common good at ESU or in your community.
