About the CENTER FOR STUDENT INVOLVEMENT

In the Center for Student Involvement, we work hard every day to cultivate an innovative learning laboratory for students. We believe the center, and all of the learning experiences provided through it, gives students an opportunity to learn about themselves, develop their identity, discover and cultivate their talents, and practice the skills necessary to be positive, productive, and contributing members of society after they leave Emporia State. We do this by creating opportunities for students to try new things, experiment, practice, and take risks in the safe environment of the campus community. We are a laboratory for experiential learning.
Even before students begin taking classes at Emporia State, we engage them in the life of the campus and community, and help them learn how to develop relationships, work as a team, and navigate new and challenging environments through our How2ESU programs. Through our Involvement Consultants program, we help students find involvement opportunities where they will be able to grow as individuals and leaders. With the many learning experiences provided through Community Hornets, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Recognized Student Organizations, and our student-run Associated Student Government and Union Activities Council, our laboratory comes to life.
Our team of professional and student staff are passionate about Emporia State University and passionate about helping to prepare students for success both at Emporia State and in their lives beyond graduation. Ultimately, we strive to empower students to be change agents for creating better communities and a better world, the Leaders for the Common Good Retreat is one such program focusing on developing these skills. The programs, services, and learning experiences we provide are built upon three core learning goals that we believe are important and necessary for personal, social, and global change.
