Kevin has been the General Counsel for Emporia State University since 2012. He earned his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law. He is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Kansas, the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to becoming General Counsel, Kevin was in private practice in Wichita, Kansas. His practice covered various areas of the law, but was focused on business and employment law, bankruptcy, probate, and general civil matters. He has litigated many cases in both state and federal court, before state and federal agencies, and before state and federal appellate courts. Kevin is a member of the Lyon County Bar Association, the Wichita Bar Association, and the Kansas Bar Association.
In addition to his role as General Counsel, Kevin is a tenured member of the ESU School of Business faculty with the academic rank of Professor. He has taught various business law and ethics courses and is the author of a number of professional journal articles and several books on different legal and law related topics. He has also served as President of the ESU Faculty, co-chair of the ESU Koch Center for Leadership and Ethics, and in leadership roles for several University committees and task forces.
