Alternative Text

The Alternative Text accommodation refers to students obtaining their textbooks in an alternative format, such that a text-to-speech program can read the print out loud to the student.  Our office works directly with students receiving this accommodation to ensure that their textbooks are provided to them in an appropriate format.

Faculty should be aware that students that use a text-to-speech software may also need their course materials, such as documents uploaded to Canvas, provided to them in accessible format. Faculty can refer to the Accessible Technology section of our website to obtain instructions on how to make documents on Canvas accessible to students.
